ABOUT THE BRAND

Our 300 years history in Campania

The literal meaning of Casale del ‘700 is «’700’s farmhouse». It refers to an old ruin owned by our ancestors and renovated by our familiy in 1999.

They used to live relying only on products coming from their own labour, from fruit and vegetables they cultivated, the livestock they bred but, above all, the wine they produced

The company’s goal is that of making our family’s traditions known to the consumers but giving them the best quality we can achieve according to the most innovative methods

A STRONG CONNECTION WITH THE TERRITORY

Campania is one of the most variegated regions in Italy, home of the Gulf of Naples, of the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. One of the best landscapes created by the coastlines, of the Vesuvius and the historical cities of Pompei, Ercolano and Stabiae, preserved by his eruption in 79 AD. The region was named by Romans “Campania Felix” thanks to its fertility due to the cooperation between the climate conditions and the wide variety of soils.

WHEN DID WE START MAKING WINE ?

Since we were children, we’ve been aproached to the world of wine. Our grandparents have passed down to us their traditional way of making wine. in 2014 we decided to start this project, hoping to make our history known worldwide

I r p i n i a

Irpinia is a mountainous area in which wine reaches it’s best qualities thanks to the climatic factors and the soil composition. The climate is characterized by abundant rainfall a nd extreme temperature, never too hot, neither during the summer season. This, together with the calcareous/clay soil, covered by volcanic sands, create the best conditions for the production of high quality wines. This is the reason why Casale del ‘700 is located and operates in Irpinia.

Wine Production

Bottles produced in a year

We produce around 120.000 bottles in a year. We personally cultivate the vine instead of buying it from other farmers. This allows us to control the quality of the wine since the flowering of the vines. We prefer having low yields of grapes per hectare to obtain a higher quality. All the quality of the grapes can be seen in the wine.

Wine Varieties

TYPES OF WINE PRODUCED

We produce five varieties of wines all made from native grapes, born thousands of years ago in Camania Starting from Aglianico grapes, vitis ellenica, we get three wines;
Aglianico IGP, Aglianico Doc and Taurasi. Even falanghina is an ancient vine cultivated since Roman times. In fact the etymology of the name comes from phalange, with a curious reference to the poles used to support the vines, which resembled the spears that came out of the Roman phalanx

HARVESTING AND EXTRACTION

The selection and harvesting of the grapes is done manually in small crates and the crushing is done in the same day.

FERMENTATION

During the fermentation temperatures are continously kept under control to avoid temperature changes that would compromise the quality of the wine.

AGING AND BOTTLING

Aged wines, depending on the type, rest for some months or years in casks made of the best French oak.

KOSHER PRODUCTION

Always fascinated by Jewish culture, in 2020 we decided to approach this world by starting the production of kosher wines. During the entire process, from pressing to bottling, only the rabbis and other responsible persons are allowed to come into contact with the wine. They strictly observe all Jewish standards to guarantee us their certification. In this way, even Jews have the opportunity to taste our wines.
